Youth Coach Needed

December 2025

The Backyard is Whidbey Island's Alternative Fitness Playground; a space for everyone to find quality fitness and indoor play. We are a tight knit crew serving our community in the most playful way possible, and we are growing!

The Backyard is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, active person to join our team as a youth coach.
Duties include:

  • Coaching age appropriate, engaging movement classes (think a mix of games, P.E., “parkour”/essentially all things movement)

  • Comfortable moving your body for 2-3 hours at a time. Our classes are highly active and our coaches are fully engaged and participating in them. Classes are typically an hour long, special events and camps are 2-3 hours long

  • Using our membership software and processing payment

  • Setup and class prep before class, clean up after

  • Attending monthly coaching meetings

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children is required and you must be able to pass a background check

  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or willing to become certified; certification in concussion awareness and prevention a plus

  • The person we are looking for will enjoy working with children and be excited about creative, healthy play, and have a great sense of humor. Play is at the heart of everything we do, and being silly is a part of that!

Desired Experience:

  • A certification in and/or background in teaching movement classes (parkour, martial arts, yoga, pilates, anything movement-focused), particularly teaching children

  • Experience using Triib or other similar membership software

Compensation:

  • $19-25/hr DOE

  • Part time (12 – 40 hours per month, paid monthly) with potential to grow

  • Insider access to classes and special programs at the Backyard for you and your family
